Plymouth residents get creative as part of Mayflower 400 Community Sparks Fund

We’re looking back at some of the wonderful community activity that has been put together as part of the Mayflower 400 Community Sparks Fund in Plymouth.

Mayflower 400 Community Sparks is a partnership project between Mayflower 400 UK, Plymouth City Council, The Box Plymouth, Plymouth Culture and Vital Sparks Plymouth.

The brilliant By Design Theatre and @Age UK Plymouth distributed more than 300 creative packs to Plymouth care homes during the first lockdown, providing Mayflower-themed quizzes, questions and activities to help beat isolation.

Wondering what creative community works have been taking placed during lockdown?

Residents in care homes have been completing activity packs designed by By Design Theatre.

Here are some of their thoughts and snippets of creative work captured on film, including drawing, quizzes and reflections:

And there is another exciting update from By Design Theatre with Age UK Plymouth.

As a result of their community creative works as part of the Mayflower 400 Community Sparks Fund, elderly residents in Plymouth have inspired the production of a new type of theatrical work.
