There are already some incredible projects in development for Mayflower 400 which we want to share with you. But to make this really special we need you to get on board for 2020 and play a part in making it a brilliant year. So, this is an invitation for you to join us; to organise, to have fun, to debate the good and the bad, to get involved and ultimately to celebrate Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City.
There are a range of events taking place across the city over the next three months where you’ll be able to have a chat about Mayflower and ways you can contribute to 2020.
The first is being run by Plymouth Octopus Project on the 21st of September at the Engage Church on St Leven's Road, from 2pm to 4pm – feel free to drop in!
Further events will be added to this page on a regular basis, and if you’d like us to present to a group or community you’re involved with get in touch.
We have a dedicated ‘Spirit of Mayflower’ programme for organisations putting on community based activity for 2020. Joining this will give you access to our branding, and we’ll also promote your activity through this website and other forums. We’re just putting the finishing touches to the application form, which will be available from the 23rd of September at mayflower400uk.org/travel-trade/branding.
Our community volunteering scheme will open in Spring 2018. Visit mayflower400uk.org/about/volunteering for more information as it becomes available.
Businesses can already contribute as part of the ‘Make a Difference for Mayflower’ campaign – please drop us an e-mail if you’d like to sign up.
If you’re a cultural organisation, the Mayflower Culture Funding is launching in September 2017. We’re open to applications for any form of cultural activity that interacts with the Mayflower’s story or our values. More information will be available shortly on the Plymouth Culture website, plymouthculture.co.uk.
Our Community Fund will open in April 2018 and run through to November 2019. Applications are invited for any community activity that fits our values – it can be a new event or an extension of something you’re already doing. You can bid for any amount of money up to £2,000; if you’ve got something bigger in mind get in touch for a chat. Further information will be available nearer to the fund’s launch.
For further information, or a general chat about Mayflower, drop us an e-mail or fill out our feedback form – if you leave your number we’ll give you a call!
