The streets of Harwich will be lit up once again on 24 November as Illuminate 2017 festival takes place, promoting the town's strong links with the Mayflower ship.
People will gather at H'apenny Pier at 6.00pm with a replica of the Mayflower ship on display and members of the Dovercourt Theatre Group in costume.
There will be a torchlight procession, departing at 6.30pm led by folk musicians along Kings Head Street to St Nicholas' Church where a special themed service will be conducted by the Rev Canon Margaret Shaw. Lanterns made by children from local schools will be hung in the church; the Illuminate poem will be read and there will be various musical performances as well as readings, hymns and psalms.
The parade will pass by the house of Christopher Jones and the home of his first wife Sara Twitt which is now the Alma Pub.
Residents in Kings Quay Street – where Jones himself lived – will be invited to put lights up in their windows as the procession goes by.
You'll be the first to hear the latest Mayflower news, events, and more.
